RCCI Engages with Deputy Commissioner on Rawalpindi Ring Road Progress and Local Commerce Development

Islamabad: The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) held a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema, discussing the advancement of the Rawalpindi Ring Road project and addressing key civic concerns impacting local businesses and the city’s development.

According to Zameen.Com, RCCI President Usman Shaukat and the Deputy Commissioner focused on the ongoing construction of the Ring Road and the development of surrounding economic zones, which are anticipated to boost the local economy significantly. Deputy Commissioner Cheema confirmed the project’s expected completion by June 2025 and discussed the establishment of a Central Business District (CBD), aimed at enhancing commercial activities in the area.

The meeting also addressed RCCI’s involvement in the Dengue Prevention Campaign, with plans to initiate a special awareness drive within the business community. However, concerns were raised about the stringent anti-dengue measures, such as the sealing of business centers and legal actions against businessmen, which RCCI argued might hinder business operations.

Further discussions covered issues like encroachments and parking problems in major commercial areas such as Sadar Cantt, Tench Bhatta, Commercial Market, and Raja Bazaar. RCCI highlighted the need for a strategic approach to these challenges, prompting assurances from Deputy Commissioner Cheema that the administration would consider the Chamber’s suggestions for sustainable solutions.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to strengthen collaboration between RCCI and local government authorities, focusing on resolving civic issues and promoting a business-friendly environment in Rawalpindi.
