Reliable Global Payouts Boost Pakistan’s ICT Sector and Forex Inflows

Karachi: Pakistan's Information and Communication Technology sector experienced significant growth during the 2025-26 fiscal year, driven by a 19.7 percent increase in export remittances and a resulting $2.91 billion trade surplus. This robust performance is supported by the expanding number of IT and IT-enabled services companies registered with the Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan, reflecting the sector's growing global reach and competitiveness.

According to Payoneer, as more Pakistani technology firms, digital agencies, e-commerce sellers, and SaaS exporters expand their international presence, a reliable cross-border payment infrastructure is becoming crucial. Payoneer's global financial system facilitates eligible Pakistani businesses in receiving payments in major currencies, issuing payment requests, managing funds, and paying international suppliers and contractors. Its integration with local banks and financial institutions ensures that global earnings are seamlessly connected with Pakistan's banking ecosystem through real-time local withdrawals.

Nagesh Devata, Senior Vice President and Head of APAC at Payoneer, highlighted the importance of financial infrastructure in supporting the international growth of small and medium-sized businesses. By streamlining the process of receiving, managing, and utilizing international payments, Payoneer aims to transform global sales into stable working capital and foster long-term business growth.

A robust payment infrastructure can further bolster Pakistan's economy by promoting formal export receipts, strengthening SME cash flows, and enabling more businesses to engage confidently in global trade.
