KARACHI: The Sindh Integrated Emergency and Health Services (SIEHS) is set to partner with the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) to launch first-aid training programs for the industrial sector. Additionally, the deployment of an ambulance at KATI to manage emergencies in the Korangi area is under consideration, according to Brigadier (Retd) Tarique Quadir Lakhiar, CEO of SIEHS.

During a recent visit to KATI, Lakhiar outlined these initiatives while addressing industrialists and association members. He highlighted that Rescue 1122 ambulances in Sindh are outfitted with 29 life-saving devices, surpassing the 13 devices found in Punjab's ambulances, reflecting the commitment of the Sindh government and Provincial Health Minister Dr. Azra Pechuho.

Rescue 1122 currently operates 627 modern ambulances, alongside motorcycles, bicycles, and boats, providing emergency medical assistance across Sindh. Lakhiar noted that the service's helpline receives over 26,000 calls daily, and 39 ambulance stations have been established in the province. The goal is to increase the ambulance fleet to 1,800.

KATI President Muhammad Ikram Rajput praised the successful implementation of the Public-Private Partnership model by SIEHS, which serves as a benchmark for both the government and private sector. Rajput emphasized the importance of strategically located ambulance points in the Korangi Industrial Area to further reduce response times.

In addition, Senior Vice President Zahid Hameed suggested providing specialized training to safety staff in KATI factories, enabling them to act as first responders. He lauded the mobile ICU capabilities of SIEHS's modern ambulances, which deliver critical medical services to industrial workers.

The event saw contributions from other participants, including Junaid Naqi and Gulzar Feroz, who advocated for enhanced coordination between emergency services and the industrial sector.
