Karachi: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has ordered that the completion of the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project be expedited, urging that the work be finished ahead of its scheduled deadline. This directive comes as part of efforts to address the city’s severe traffic issues by improving public transportation options for millions of residents.
According to Zameen.Com, Minister Memon emphasized the importance of the Red Line BRT during a recent meeting with the Transport Department and various stakeholders, including Secretary Transport Asad Zamin and CEO of Trans Karachi Shumaila Mohsin. The meeting, which also saw participation from international consultants and contractors, focused on updates and discussions regarding the ongoing construction on Lot 1 and Lot 2 of the project.
The minister highlighted the need for increased cooperation among all parties involved to ensure the project’s swift completion. He specifically called for engagement with airport authorities to speed up development work in the airport area, setting a deadline of one week to resolve any outstanding issues to prevent further delays.
The initiative to complete the Red Line BRT project ahead of schedule reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing Karachi’s public transport infrastructure, aiming to significantly improve urban mobility and sustainability in the region.
