Sindh Minister Plans Islamabad Visit to Secure Funds for SITE Area Development

Karachi: Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce, Jam Ikramullah Khan Dharejo, has announced plans to lead a delegation to Islamabad next week to pursue the release of long-pending funds under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for the Sindh Industrial and Trading Estate (SITE) area. These funds are earmarked for constructing approximately 49 roads within the SITE area, addressing infrastructural needs that have been delayed for two years.

According to S.I.T.E Association of Industry, during his visit to the SITE Association of Industry, Minister Dharejo addressed various issues impacting the industrial area. He committed to establishing the SITE Development and Management Company modeled after other successful industrial management companies in Karachi and assured full cooperation in resolving prevailing industry challenges. Furthermore, he vowed to take strict action against those responsible for encroachments in the SITE area.

The visit included discussions on several critical matters, such as the severe water shortage, licensing for sub-soil operators, and the urgent need to improve law and order. The minister also highlighted the forthcoming measures, including a meeting with the Mayor of Karachi to address water issues and a session with the Police Chief to discuss security concerns in the SITE area.

In response to the concerns raised by SITE President Muhammad Kamran Arbi and other industry leaders, Minister Dharejo promised swift actions, including expedited repairs and the potential implementation of a Gated Community system to enhance security and operational efficiency similar to the Sundar Industrial Estate in Punjab.
