Sindh to Establish New Industrial Zone Along Karachi’s Northern Bypass

Karachi: In an ambitious move to drive economic growth and attract further investment, the Sindh government has announced plans to establish a new industrial zone along the Northern Bypass of Karachi. This development is aimed at capitalizing on Karachi’s strategic position as Pakistan’s commercial hub and enhancing the province’s industrial capacity.

According to Zameen.Com, the new industrial zone is part of a broader strategy to bolster the province’s already significant industrial base, which includes over 4,000 units across major cities such as Karachi, Hyderabad, and Sukkur. Bashir Solangi, Director of the Industries Department, stated that the Sindh government has allocated PKR 846 million for this fiscal year to develop the new zone, with further funds earmarked for expanding existing zones.

The chosen location along the Northern Bypass offers strategic advantages, providing essential connectivity to major transportation networks and proximity to Karachi’s port, which is vital for export-oriented industries. Solangi emphasized that Karachi plays a crucial role in the national economy, attracting both domestic and foreign investors with its strategic location and robust infrastructure.

The development plan includes the creation of specialized economic clusters, pending government approval, which will target sectors such as IT, media, and marble processing. These clusters are designed to enhance industrial productivity by connecting businesses to essential services and resources.

This new initiative reflects the Sindh government’s commitment to fostering economic development, enhancing the competitiveness of the industrial sector, and building investor confidence in Karachi and the wider region.
