Karachi: The SITE Association of Industries (SAI) has issued a strong critique of Pakistan's telecom operators and internet service providers, citing persistent network problems that they argue are hindering business activities.
Industrialists from Karachi's largest industrial hub, SITE, have expressed significant concerns over frequent internet disruptions and weak mobile signals. These issues, they say, are obstructing communication and threatening industrial productivity.
Ahmed Azeem Alvi, the president of SAI, highlighted that slow internet speeds and poor mobile connectivity have severely affected business communications for consecutive days. He cautioned that these ongoing technical problems could lead to considerable financial setbacks for the country's business sector.
In an appeal to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Alvi called for immediate government intervention, emphasizing that the inability to maintain timely communication with international buyers is already impacting export orders and global trade commitments.
"Reliable communication is the backbone of industrial operations," Alvi commented. "When mobile networks and internet services fail, exporters cannot engage with international clients or secure new business opportunities."
Alvi also noted that frustration is rising within the industrial community due to poor connectivity, which he says poses a significant threat to Pakistan's export capabilities and economic competitiveness.
The SAI president urged the Prime Minister to take swift action and instruct telecom companies to improve their infrastructure and service quality. This, he argued, is essential to ensure smooth business operations and sustain Pakistan's industrial growth.
