London: Spotify has introduced new add-on subscriptions for its Premium users, including Audiobooks+, following successful trials in Ireland and Canada. The initiative, now available in several countries including the U.K., Germany, and Australia, aims to provide more listening flexibility and support the publishing industry.
The Audiobooks+ add-on offers Premium Individual subscribers, as well as Family and Duo plan managers, 15 additional hours of audiobook listening each month. This feature targets book enthusiasts seeking more audiobook time, especially for longer titles.
Additionally, the Audiobooks+ for Plan Members add-on allows extra members on Premium Family and Duo plans to access 15 hours of audiobook listening monthly. Plan members must request access from their plan manager, who can purchase the add-on. A one-time 10-hour top-up is also available if users exhaust their hours before the monthly cycle refreshes.
Spotify's move to expand audiobook options is part of its broader strategy to attract new fans to the format, benefiting publishers and authors by reaching new listeners and enhancing industry revenue.
