Standard Chartered CEO Bill Winters Discusses Investment Potential and Challenges at OICCI in Karachi

Karachi: Bill Winters, Group CEO of Standard Chartered Bank, visited the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) on July 5, engaging with top executives about Pakistan's economic opportunities and challenges.

According to Standard Chartered Bank, during his visit, Winters expressed optimism about Pakistan's potential, particularly for its young talent, and emphasized the need for government reforms to facilitate their employment with global companies. As a leader in climate finance and chair of the Net Zero Banking Alliance, he also discussed the importance of climate resilience and the adoption of emerging technologies like AI, blockchain, and digital currencies in the region.

M Abdul Aleem, OICCI CE/Secretary General, briefed Winters on the chamber's extensive history and the significant contributions of its members, who are responsible for one-third of Pakistan's tax revenue and have been influential in technology transfer and managerial skills development. Winters, who has participated in past OICCI events, including the Pakistan Climate Conference, reiterated the importance of sustainable climate initiatives in his discussions.
