State Bank of Pakistan Announces Figures for Overnight Repo Facilities

Karachi: The State Bank of Pakistan has released figures detailing the utilization of its overnight repo and reverse repo facilities as of April 14, 2025. The data reflects activity by financial institutions in accessing liquidity support from the central bank.

According to the figures, one financial institution accessed the SBP Overnight Repo Facility, also known as the floor, borrowing a total of 215,000.00 million Pakistani Rupees. This facility is typically used by institutions to manage their short-term liquidity needs by borrowing funds overnight from the central bank at a predetermined rate.

In contrast, two financial institutions utilized the SBP Overnight Reverse Repo Facility, referred to as the ceiling, for a total of 204,200.00 million Pakistani Rupees. This facility allows institutions to lend their surplus funds to the central bank, thus absorbing excess liquidity from the market.

The data is sourced from the Domestic Markets and Monetary Management Department of the State Bank of Pakistan, which regularly publishes such figures to maintain transparency and inform market participants about the central bank's monetary operations.
