State Bank of Pakistan Reports Access to Overnight Repo Facilities

Karachi: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced the latest figures on access to its overnight repo and reverse repo facilities, indicating that two institutions utilized the SBP's overnight repo facility on June 11, 2025, borrowing a total of Rs. 51,400 million. No institutions accessed the reverse repo facility on the same date.

According to the Domestic Markets and Monetary Management Department of the SBP, the overnight repo facility serves as a tool for financial institutions to manage liquidity. The data reveals that the facility was accessed by two institutions, reflecting the current liquidity needs in the banking sector.

There was no activity reported for the SBP's overnight reverse repo facility, which is typically used by institutions to place excess funds with the central bank. This absence of activity suggests that banks did not have surplus liquidity to invest with the central bank on that day.

The figures provided are part of the SBP's regular disclosure of financial market operations, aimed at ensuring transparency and informing stakeholders of the monetary management activities within the country. The availability and utilization of these facilities play a critical role in maintaining stability in the domestic financial markets.
