Karachi: In a recent release, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) disclosed details regarding its Overnight Repo and Reverse Repo Facilities for October 22, 2025. The data indicates that financial institutions accessed the SBP’s Overnight Repo Facility, commonly referred to as the "Floor" facility, borrowing a total of Rs. 115,000 million.
The report specifies that three financial institutions utilized the Overnight Repo Facility. This facility allows banks to obtain funds from the central bank by pledging securities, typically for short durations, to manage liquidity in the banking system.
Conversely, the data reveals that there were no transactions under the SBP’s Overnight Reverse Repo Facility, also known as the "Ceiling" facility, for the specified date. This facility typically involves the central bank borrowing funds from financial institutions, providing them with a mechanism to park excess liquidity overnight.
The release of this data underscores the SBP’s role in maintaining liquidity in the financial system and highlights the monetary tools available to banks for managing their daily financial needs.
