State Bank of Pakistan Reports Overnight Repo Facility Usage Surge

Karachi: The State Bank of Pakistan released data indicating significant activity in its overnight repo and reverse repo facilities. On July 8, 2025, one institution utilized the SBP's overnight repo facility, accessing Rs. 43,000 million. Meanwhile, two institutions engaged the reverse repo facility, borrowing a total of Rs. 55,500 million.

The figures highlight the ongoing reliance on these monetary management tools. The overnight repo facility allows financial institutions to borrow funds from the central bank, while the reverse repo facility involves the central bank borrowing from these institutions.

This data provides insight into the liquidity management practices of financial institutions in Pakistan. The increased engagement with these facilities underscores their role in maintaining financial stability within the country's banking sector.

The State Bank of Pakistan continues to monitor these activities as part of its broader monetary policy framework, ensuring that adequate liquidity is available in the system.
