Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) experienced a decline on its index level, closing at 50,456.98 points, marking a decrease of 260.85 points or 0.51%. This downturn comes amid a broader negative trend observed across regional markets, reflecting investor concerns over ongoing economic challenges.
According to JS Global, the market capitalization of PSX also saw a reduction, standing at Rs 18,890.04 billion, a 0.38% decrease from the previous day. The day's trading volume totaled 568.04 million shares, with a total value of Rs 20.81 billion. Among the notable losers were PGLC and AIRLINK, which saw declines of 3.79% and 2.95%, respectively. On the other hand, LOTCHEM and GADT recorded gains of 5.48% and 3.13%.
The regional markets mirrored this downward trajectory, with the Malaysian KLSE dropping by 1.6%, and the Philippine PSI falling by 0.9%. In contrast, the Korea KOSPI index showed a substantial year-to-date increase of 63.0%, and Taiwan's TWII rose by 64.5%, highlighting significant regional disparities in market performance.
