Stock Market Sees Modest Gains as KSE Indices Climb

Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a modest uptick in trading activity with the KSE30 and KSE100 indices closing higher. The KSE30 index rose by 109.76 points to reach 52,294.83, while the KSE100 index increased by 399.12 points, settling at 175,328.81. This represented a day-on-day percentage change of 0.21% and 0.23% respectively.

According to JS Global, the market's capitalization increased by 0.22%, bringing it to Rs 19,629.22 billion (approximately $70.76 billion). The day's trading saw a total volume of 874.32 million shares, valued at Rs 32.42 billion ($116.86 million). Among the top gainers were Thal Limited (THALL), which saw its price rise by 3.40%, and Maple Leaf Cement Factory Limited (MLCF) and Allied Bank Limited (AKBL), both posting gains of 2.42%.

The PSX, however, also had its share of decliners. Pakistan General Insurance Company Limited (PGLC) fell by 4.34%, while Pakistan Services Limited (PSEL) and Cnergyico PK Limited (CNERGY) declined by 3.83% and 3.73%, respectively.

On the regional front, markets showed mixed results. The Chinese SSEA index dropped by 0.3%, while Korea's KOSPI surged by 1.6%. Meanwhile, the Indian BSESN saw a modest gain of 0.5%.

The PSX's year-to-date performance remains varied, with the KSE100 showing an increase of 0.73% in CY26, despite a 2.76% decline in FY27. The market's 52-week highs and lows were marked at Rs 21,304.78 billion and Rs 17,982.61 billion, respectively.
