Stock Market Suffers Significant Losses as KSE Index Plummets

Karachi: The stock market experienced a sharp decline as the KSE100 and KSE30 indices fell considerably on Monday. The KSE100 index dropped by 16,089.17 points, closing at 151,973.00, while the KSE30 index decreased by 4,995.92 points, ending at 46,326.47. Both indices recorded percentage declines of over 9.5%, an indicator of a turbulent trading session.

According to Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited, the market's trading volume increased significantly, with turnover in regular market operations reaching 809,550,101, up from the previous 536,241,529. The traded value in the regular market also rose to 48,512,921,928, compared to the prior 25,540,416,892. Despite the increased trading activity, the market capitalization fell to 17,185,628,227,175 from the previous value of 18,930,184,839,032.

The figures reflect a challenging day for investors as market indices reached their lowest points with the KSE100 hitting a low of 151,747.96 and KSE30 reaching 46,248.41. Despite the high trading volume, the market was unable to recover from its initial losses throughout the trading session.
