Karachi: Tauqeer Ul Haq has been elected as the new Chairman of the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers’ Association (PPMA) for the 2024-25 term, marking a significant leadership transition within the organization.
According to Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association, alongside Ul Haq, Shafiq Ahmed Abbasi will serve as the senior vice-chairman, and Aman Ullah Sheikh as the vice-chairman. The election also introduced new members to the PPMA’s Central Executive Committee, with representation from both the southern and northern regions of the country.
The southern region representatives include Tauqeer Ul Haq, Saboor Ahmed, Muhammad Abdullah Essa, and others, reflecting a diverse leadership panel intended to address various challenges facing the pharmaceutical industry. From the northern region, members such as Shafiq Ahmed Abbasi, Aman Ullah Sheikh, and Dr. Tahir Azam have been elected, bringing a broad range of expertise to the committee.
In his inaugural message, Ul Haq emphasized his commitment to addressing key issues within the pharmaceutical sector, particularly those pertaining to regulatory frameworks and pricing structures. He expressed his intention to collaborate closely with state and federal authorities to enhance productivity and significantly boost the pharmaceutical exports from Pakistan, aiming to bolster the national economy.
Ul Haq also acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing chairman, Mian Khalid Misbah Ur Rehman, and his team, praising their efforts to tackle the pressing challenges of the industry during their term.
