Karachi: Telenor Microfinance Bank (TMB), the operator of easypaisa, Pakistan’s foremost digital financial services platform, has achieved the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification, a prestigious recognition for its commitment to information security management. The certification was awarded by Risk Associates, a leading certification body accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).
According to Telenor Pakistan, the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 standard is globally recognized for setting rigorous guidelines in managing and protecting data. TMB’s certification acknowledges the bank's effective practices in identifying, assessing, and mitigating information security risks, thus ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive data.
The certification ceremony saw key figures from both Telenor Microfinance Bank and Risk Associates. Aziz A. Rahim, Chief Operating Officer at Risk Associates, presented the certification to TMB’s Chief Risk Officer Muhammad Rizwan Ikram and Mustapha Salim Lotia, Head of Information Security. The event highlighted the collaborative efforts of TMB’s security teams and their commitment to robust information security management systems.
Kashif Ahmed, Acting President and CEO of TMB/easypaisa, expressed his pride in achieving the certification, emphasizing its importance as the bank transitions to a full-fledged Digital Retail Bank, pending regulatory approvals. He remarked that this milestone underscores TMB’s high standards in data security and its dedication to safeguarding customer information.
