Tipu Sultan’s memorial in Maharashtra’s Dhule demolished on Hindu extremists’ complaint

Mumbai, June 10, 2023 (PPI-OT):The monument of Tipu Sultan, located in a square in the city of Dhule in the Indian state of Maharashtra, was demolished on the demand of Hindu extremists. The Indian media in a report said that the office-bearers of Bharatiya Janata Party (youth wing) on behalf of the local Hindu organizations of Dhule city had complained that Farooq Anwar Shah, the local assembly member of All India Majlis-e-Ittehad ul Muslimeen, has illegally constructed Tipu Sultan’s monument in the Chowk. After this complaint, the monument was bulldozed.

The monument was erected at the intersection of Vidjay Road. The Bharatiya Janata Party’s youth wing had written to the Home Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of the state Devendra Fadnavis demanding the removal of the monument. Apart from this, a letter was also written to SP and Commissioner of Municipal Corporation, Dhule.

After the complaint, the officers gave instructions to take action. After this action, security has been tightened due to tension in the city. In Dhule city, the Municipal Corporation has constructed a 100 feet wide road from D Mart to Bypass Highway and a monument to Tipu Sultan was built in the centre of the road. BJP’s youth wing has also demanded action against MLA Farooq Anwar Shah.
