UBG Calls on FBR to Simplify Income Tax Returns and Extend Filing Deadline

Karachi: The United Business Group (UBG) has requested the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to extend the income tax return filing deadline by one month and simplify the tax return process, citing challenges faced by the business community.

According to United Business Group, UBG President Zubair Tufail, Chairman (Sindh) Khalid Tawab, Secretary General (Sindh) Hanif Gohar, and Former Senior Vice President Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir highlighted issues with the FBR’s IRIS portal. Traders have reported encountering server overload, errors, and system limitations, making the tax filing process difficult. The UBG leaders urged the FBR to extend the deadline to allow smoother filing and called for simplifications in the process to reduce complaints, effort, and discrepancies, which would encourage more businesses to file returns.
