Islamabad: The United Kingdom's National Crime Agency Director General, Graeme Biggar, met with Pakistan's Federal Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, to discuss enhancing collaboration on a range of security issues. The meeting, attended by British High Commissioner Jane Marriott and several senior Pakistani officials, focused on tackling counterterrorism, anti-narcotics efforts, human trafficking, forensics, immigration, and police training.

Both parties agreed to bolster cooperation through training programs for officers in departments such as the Anti-Narcotics Force and the National Counter Terrorism Authority. They also committed to improving joint initiatives aimed at preventing online child harassment and enhancing bilateral extradition processes. Five memorandums of understanding on extradition and other cooperative efforts are expected to be finalized soon.

In the meeting, DG Biggar condemned the recent suicide attack in Islamabad, offering condolences for the lives lost. Minister Naqvi highlighted Pakistan's resolve in combating terrorism, attributing its roots to cross-border influences. He underscored the importance of using modern forensic tools and training to enhance law enforcement capabilities.

Minister Naqvi also mentioned ongoing efforts with the UK to address illegal immigration effectively. DG Biggar praised Pakistan's role in counter-narcotics efforts and noted the UK government's commitment to working closely with Pakistan across multiple sectors.
