Weekly Hydrocarbon Production Shows Notable Increase

Karachi: Weekly hydrocarbon production has shown a significant increase, with oil and gas outputs rising by 6% and 4% respectively week-over-week, as reported on June 30, 2026. This growth, driven by increased production from fields such as Makori East and Kandhkot, marks a continuing trend of robust performance in the sector.

According to AKD Securities Limited, oil production reached 70,157 barrels per day, while gas production peaked at 3,097 million cubic feet per day. The week-over-week increase in oil production was notably supported by a 27% rise from Makori East, alongside contributions from KPD and Mamikhel South. However, declines were noted in Makori Deep and Taj. Gas production was bolstered by significant recoveries in fields like Shewa and Kandhkot, although slight decreases were observed in Qadirpur and Sharf.

Year-over-year, the sector maintained strong double-digit growth, with oil and gas production increasing by 22% and 10% respectively. Key contributors to this performance included new production from Baragzai and significant gains in Makori Deep and Dhok Sultan for oil, and increased output from Kandhkot, Makori East, and Shewa for gas. Among companies, PPL was a standout performer with substantial year-over-year growth in both oil and gas production, while MARI also showed strong performance, indicative of a broad-based recovery as the industry moves into the fiscal year 2027.
