Karachi: Zong, a leading technology service enterprise in Pakistan, has officially launched its 5G services in over 16 cities, marking a significant step in the country's digital development. The company has obtained its 5G license and initiated commercial operations in cities including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, and Quetta. This move aims to enhance digital connectivity and drive economic growth.
According to Zong Pakistan, the company plans to deploy and upgrade over 1,000 5G sites nationwide by 2026 as part of its strategy to advance Pakistan's digital ecosystem. The launch follows Zong's first 5G trial in 2019 and is supported by infrastructure that has demonstrated speeds exceeding 1.4Gbps. Zong's 5G strategy focuses on customer experience, product diversification, and AI enablement to support various sectors, including gaming, video streaming, and smart industries.
As a subsidiary of China Mobile Limited, Zong leverages global expertise to align with national growth priorities such as the Digital Pakistan vision and Pakistan Vision 2030. The 5G rollout aims to position Pakistan as a global technology hub, supporting initiatives like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and enabling advancements in fields such as healthcare and agriculture.
