‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ Initiative Kickstarts Housing Construction for Low-Income Families in Punjab

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the construction phase of the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ housing program aimed at providing homes to low-income families. This initiative, part of a broader effort to enhance social welfare and support economic upliftment in the region, promises to facilitate accessible home ownership through structured financial assistance.

According to Zameen.Com, during a recent meeting, Chief Minister Sharif received an update on the rapid progress of the program, notably that the initial loan installments have already spurred the start of home construction in Lahore, Kasur, and other districts within just two months. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of timely loan disbursements and instructed officials to ensure that the second installment reaches beneficiaries without delay.

To aid the execution and application process, Assistant Commissioners have been appointed as focal points in each district. Furthermore, Chief Minister Maryam has committed to personally oversee the initiative’s progress through a dedicated dashboard and tasked Provincial Minister Bilal Yasin with managing the on-ground operations of the program. The meeting also highlighted the substantial interest in the initiative, with over 550,000 people visiting the program’s portal and around 450,000 applications received, demonstrating significant demand for the housing support offered.
