Islamabad: Bank Alfalah, one of Pakistan's largest commercial banks, has expanded its Tap and Pay service to enable NFC-enabled Android smartphone users to make secure digital payments at POS terminals and e-commerce platforms worldwide. This extension is part of the bank's commitment to enhancing customer convenience and security in digital transactions.
According to Bank Alfalah, the new service allows customers to use their NFC-enabled Android devices to perform tokenized payments. This method of payment involves replacing sensitive cardholder information, such as the 16-digit Personal Account Number (PAN) and CVV, with a digital token. This token comprises randomly generated numbers that ensure cardholder data remains secure during transactions at both POS machines and online merchants.
Mehreen Ahmed, Group Head of the Retail Banking Group at Bank Alfalah, emphasized the importance of innovation in payment solutions. "We are further enhancing Bank Alfalah Tap and Pay functionality to enable tokenized payments, allowing our cardholders to seamlessly make transactions conveniently and securely with their smartphones," said Ahmed. She highlighted that the evolution of payment technology is a key priority for the bank, aiming to provide a frictionless user experience.
This development offers an added layer of security for transactions, as actual card details are not stored with the merchant, thus protecting against potential data breaches and cyber fraud. Bank Alfalah continues to lead in providing secure and seamless transaction experiences for its customers, now enabling more than one million credit and debit cardholders to transition from physical cards to digital tokens.
