KARACHI: The Businessmen Panel Progressive (BMPP) has opted to forgo forming any new alliances, choosing instead to concentrate on advocating for the business community's needs amidst challenging economic conditions.
In a recent meeting led by BMP Progressive Chairman Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, it was discussed that the United Business Group (UBG), a current ally, had received an approach from the Anjum Nisar Group, which is part of the opposition within BMP, expressing interest in forming an alliance.
Chairman Magoon emphasized that any alliance without BMP Progressive’s involvement would be inconsequential. This prompted a cabinet meeting to ensure a united stance.
The meeting underscored the group's commitment to addressing the pressing challenges faced by businesses. Members agreed that political differences should be set aside by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) to focus on resolving these issues. With a significant period before the next election cycle, BMP Progressive has made it clear that it is not interested in engaging in new political or electoral alliances at this time.
The members further highlighted the importance of directing efforts toward supporting the country's economic development, given the current economic climate. A core committee meeting is expected soon to further discuss the matter.
The BMP Progressive also expressed its solidarity with the Pakistan Army and condemned India's actions during the meeting.
