Karachi, May 19, 2023 (PPI-OT): CFO Conference 2023 organized by Professional Accountants in Business (PAIB) Committee of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) was held at a local hotel in Lahore which was very successful. was "Resilient CFO-Balancing the Agenda for Tomorrow". In his inaugural address, ICAP President, Mr. M. Ali Latif highlighted the important role of Chief Financial Officers in guiding their organizations through challenging times and helping to manage long-term strategic priorities.
Mr. Samiullah Siddiqui, Chairman of PAIB Committee and Council Member of ICAP, highlighted the objectives, vision and key contributions of ICAP in the financial sector of Pakistan. Hoy said he has created an atmosphere for the event that ensures valuable information and meaningful discussions.
The inaugural panel discussion of the conference was on “Skillset for Tomorrow” in which Mr. Nadeem Khan, Chief Financial Officer of PTCL, Mr. Irfan Awan, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Bank of Khyber, Mr. Irfan Awan, Member of Council of ICAP Ms. Khurshid Kotwal, and Dr. Ijaz A. Qureshi, Pro-Vice Chancellor, IAC Lahore participated. In their discussion, the panelists emphasized the importance of training and adapting it to the demands of the digital age in such a way that operational excellence, Alternative methods of data representation, the role of chartered accountants in the public sector, the importance of continuous improvement of skills, keeping abreast of trends, adopting new technology and building collaborative relationships are emphasized.
SAP's Country Managing Director, Mr. Saqib Ahmed, discussed the importance of organizational change at the tech station stage for excellence and cost reduction. He also highlighted the importance of using tools like ChatGPT to streamline business transactions and workflow. Mr. Mohsin Naqvi, Group Director Finance, Koh Noor Maple Leaf Group, Mr. Aftab Butt, Chief Executive Officer, KAPCO and Ms. Amara S. Gondal, Chairperson, NRC ICAP, held a discussion titled "80/20 Dialogue-Balancing Act of Optimization." led by During the discussion, the panellists brought to the audience their extensive expertise on multi-objective management in engineering projects with key insights that include cost reduction, quality enhancement, and shortening the project life cycle.
In the discussion panel titled "Opportunities Beyond Uncertainties", Group Executive of Meezan Bank, Syed Tanveer Taslim, Group Chief Financial Officer of Systems Limited, Ms. Rohi Khan, Chief Executive Officer of Apparel Vertical at US Denim, Malik Salman Haifaz., and Regional Chief Financial Officer of Lipton Teas and Infusions, Mr. Mustafa Yaqoob participated as guest speakers. These guest speakers emphasized the urgent need for comprehensive reforms in the current political system to revive the nation., it is imperative for every sector of the society to fulfill its responsibility diligently and continue to harness the potential of the key people to progress in the path of development.
In an interesting discussion titled "The Call of Duty", the next panellists discussed the multifaceted and diverse challenges faced by businesses in today's ever-changing landscape. It highlighted the multifaceted disruptions arising from price volatility, intensifying competition with smaller economies, the ripple effects of online banking, the trend of brain drain and the broader risks associated with technological advancement.
