Islamabad, September 08, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Thursday said it condemns defamatory statements against the army. Those who target national institutions for their own interests and divide the nation do not deserve any leniency. If such elements were not punished, they would get emboldened, which will have a very negative impact on society and the economy, it said. Some failed politicians are busy trying to make the senior leadership of the Pakistan Army controversial by issuing misleading remarks which are unfortunate, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President of PEW.

He said that the patriotism of the Pakistan Army and its leadership is clear from their services while involving them in politics and poisonous propaganda against them is intolerable. Dr. Murtaza Mughal said that the hate speech to defame the institutions is reaching extra levels every day and direct mudslinging and making venomous allegations against the armed forces and its leadership is aimed at weakening the country by creating chaos.

Politicising the senior leadership of the Army and scandalising the process of selection of the chief of army staff is neither in the state’s interest nor of the institution, he noted. Everyone knows about the troublemaker and his unholy designs but he is being dealt with leniently, which is surprising because it is sending the wrong message. The lust for power of some individuals has increased so much that they are playing with fire even on this critical occasion, he said, adding that no one can be allowed to doubt the patriotism of the army that is sacrificing their lives.
