Fluctuations in Currency Rates Observed in Pakistan’s Forex Market

Karachi, Pakistan’s foreign exchange market experienced slight fluctuations in the buying and selling rates of major currencies between April 15 and April 16, 2024. The U.S. Dollar, Euro, and British Pound, among others, showed minor variations in their exchange rates, reflecting the ongoing dynamics in the local currency market.

According to Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan, the buying rate for the U.S. Dollar moved from 277.00 to 277.16 while its selling rate increased from 279.66 to 279.68 over the one-day period. Similarly, the Euro saw a decrease in both buying and selling rates, moving from 293.99 to 293.07 and 296.83 to 295.87, respectively. The British Pound’s buying rate slightly increased from 343.85 to 343.96, with the selling rate also seeing a marginal rise from 347.17 to 347.24.

Other currencies such as the Japanese Yen, UAE Dirham, and Saudi Riyal also witnessed minor adjustments. The interbank rates for the Pakistani Rupee against the U.S. Dollar were 278.12 buying and 278.32 selling on April 15, and slightly increased to 278.29 and 278.49 the following day.
