Islamabad: Gohar Ejaz, former Caretaker federal minister for Commerce and Industries, has been elected as the Chairman of the Economic Policy and Business Development Think Tank. The announcement came during a ceremony where S.M Tanveer, Patron-in-Chief of the United Business Group, awarded Ejaz with the "Nishan-e-Amanat" for his leadership in the business community.

According to United Business Group, during his acceptance speech, Ejaz committed to addressing and resolving the pressing issues faced by the business community across all forums. He emphasized the critical challenge of high electricity costs, stating that reducing these is essential for both the industry's survival and the national economy's health. S.M Tanveer also voiced concerns at the event, criticizing the government's recent hikes in electricity prices for commercial use, which he claimed are stifling industry operations.

The discussion also touched on the broader economic challenges facing the country, with Tanveer highlighting the necessity of boosting exports to improve the financial situation. He expressed discontent with the current governmental efforts in this area, calling for more significant action to address the business community's concerns. Tanveer concluded by urging Ejaz to lead the national business community towards a more prosperous future, with hopes that under his leadership, the industrial sector's grievances would be effectively addressed.
