Islamabad: Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi convened a crucial meeting at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) headquarters on Friday, focusing on advancing Islamabad's transformation into an eco-city through the adoption of electric vehicles and significant infrastructure projects.
According to Zameen.Com, the CDA will move forward with plans to exclusively procure electric motorbikes, contributing to efforts to reduce environmental pollution. The authority also has plans to roll out electric buses, replacing conventional motorcycles in a broad environmental initiative. During the meeting, Minister Naqvi highlighted the transition of emergency services administration from the Municipal Corporation Islamabad (MCI) to the CDA, which is expected to enhance emergency services to international standards.
In addition to the environmental initiatives, Naqvi detailed upcoming infrastructure projects aimed at reducing traffic congestion. These include the construction of the Serena Chowk Underpass and the F-9 Park Chowk Flyover, as well as expediting the completion of the Islamabad Expressway project. The Minister further committed to completing development in underdeveloped sectors of the city, ensuring timely allocation for allottees and improving urban management. The formation of the Capital Waste Management Company was announced, with fast-tracked plans to finalize its operational aspects.
