Karachi, March 07, 2022 (PPI-OT): Cement Dispatches decline 5% YoY during February

As per the latest data, total Cement dispatches for the month of February clocked in at 4.4mn tons vs. 4.6mn tons in the corresponding period of last year, reporting a decline of 5% YoY. The primary reason for the decline is negative contribution from exports.

Local Dispatches on a MoM basis were higher at 16% MoM while exports on the other hand saw a significant decrease of 26% on a MoM basis. Local dispatches improved in the outgoing month after muted demand in previous months due to demand slowdown in construction activities during winter season.

Local dispatches for the North region clocked in at 3.2mn tons for the month of Feb-2022, depicting a decline of 2% YoY whereas exports from the region decreased by 78% on a YoY basis.

Local dispatches for the Southern region clocked in at 741k tons during the month, an 8% YoY increase. Exports on the other hand, which constitute a major chunk of total dispatches from the region, witnessed a decline of 15% YoY in Feb-2022.
