Karachi, September 07, 2021 (PPI-OT): Cement Dispatches trying to get back on track

As per the latest data, Cement dispatch for the month of August clocked in at 4.3mn tons vs. 3.5mn tons in the corresponding period of last year, reporting an increase of 23% YoY. The primary reason for the growth is the lower base during August last year due to monsoon season and a slowdown in construction activities on account of Eid and Muharram all falling in the same month.

Dispatches were 11% higher on a MoM basis while exports on the other hand saw a increase of 15% on a MoM basis.

Local dispatches for the North region clocked in at 3.1mn tons for the month of Aug-2021, depicting an increment of 25% YoY. Although exports from the region decreased by 33% on a YoY basis.

Local dispatches for the Southern region clocked in at 674k tons during the month, a 124% YoY increase. Exports on the other hand, which constitute a major chunk of total dispatches from the region, witnessed a decline of 26% YoY in Aug-2021.
