Karachi: In a bid to boost transparency and customer empowerment, K-Electric (KE) has introduced a new microsite aimed at providing its customers with real-time updates on their area's power status and loss profile. This development, announced on June 4, 2025, marks a significant step towards involving the community in energy management.
The microsite allows KE customers to access their area's energy profile using their account number. This initiative is designed to foster awareness and enable customers to contribute to improving their power supply by staying informed.
K-Electric's spokesperson emphasized the company's commitment to community engagement, stating that the goal is to make information readily available and promote collective accountability. By understanding the impact of timely bill payments and reducing electricity theft, communities can experience improved power supply.
Currently, 70% of KE's feeder network is exempt from load-shedding, a notable increase from the 6.6% at the time of privatization. However, challenges remain in certain areas, which KE is addressing through active engagement and interventions.
Power theft and illegal connections pose significant challenges to energy stability. KE, in collaboration with law enforcement, is actively working to combat these issues. Since January 2025, KE has conducted over 13,000 kunda removal drives and uncovered 171,298 kilograms of illegal connections. The company is committed to eradicating this problem through on-ground efforts.
The microsite also educates users about the legal repercussions of power theft and provides a platform for anonymous reporting. KE encourages residents to support efforts to improve feeder performance by fostering a culture of bill payments in their communities.
KE urges customers to utilize the portal and participate actively in ensuring their area's energy stability. As more communities adopt responsible consumption practices, they become eligible for more reliable and sustainable power supply.
