Karachi: K-Electric has announced the launch of the Energy Progress and Innovation Challenge (EPIC) 2025, a new initiative aimed at promoting innovation and localization in Pakistan’s energy sector. The program seeks to unite entrepreneurs, academia, researchers, and think tanks to develop forward-thinking solutions for challenges within the energy industry.
According to a statement by K-Electric, EPIC 2025 builds on the momentum of the company’s earlier 7/11+ Innovation Challenge. Participants in the challenge can address predefined issues set by K-Electric or propose their own ideas. The program’s themes align with regulatory priorities and key customer challenges, including tamper-proof load-shedding solutions, energy theft detection, and demand forecasting automation, among others.
The initiative offers innovators the chance to present their ideas to industry experts and receive mentoring to enhance their proposals. The top three finalists will share in cash prizes totaling PKR 3 million and may secure B2B contracts with K-Electric for project implementation.
Moonis Alvi, CEO of K-Electric, emphasized the company’s commitment to fostering a future-focused, innovation-driven power sector. He highlighted the importance of collaborative platforms for generating cutting-edge solutions to shape a sustainable energy future. Alvi encouraged participation from across Pakistan to drive meaningful progress.
Sadia Dada, Chief Distribution and Marcomms Officer at K-Electric, expressed optimism about the potential of EPIC 2025 to foster creativity, collaboration, and diversity. She underscored the initiative’s role in addressing evolving energy needs and promoting sustainability, efficiency, and inclusivity in the power sector.
