Karachi Stock Exchange Climbs as KSE100 and KSE30 Indices Register Gains

Karachi: The Karachi Stock Exchange saw positive movement as both the KSE100 and KSE30 indices experienced gains. The KSE100 index increased by 385.46 points, closing at 116,775.50, reflecting a 0.33% rise. Meanwhile, the KSE30 index rose by 153 points to reach 35,849.26, showcasing a 0.43% increase.

Leading the charge in market gains was Atlas Honda Limited (ATLH), whose share price surged by 9.37% to reach 1,039.50. Other significant gainers included Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POML), which climbed 8.06% to 138.96, and TRG Pakistan Limited (TRG), which increased by 6.28% to 67.90.

The overall market capitalization of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) saw a modest increase, with a 0.27% rise to 14,290.70 billion Rupees, equivalent to approximately 50.93 billion US dollars.

The session saw significant trading activity, with a total volume of 479.47 million shares and a total value of 30.45 billion Rupees, or 108.53 million US dollars. The 52-week high for the KSE100 index stands at 118,938.11, with a low of 70,290.12.

Despite the day's positive performance, some stocks experienced declines. Pakgen Power Limited (PGLC) saw a drop of 7.23% to 18.09, while Bank of Khyber (BNWM) fell 4.64% to 32.88. Other notable losers included PSX itself, which decreased by 4.18% to 28.20, and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), down 2.44% to 29.11.

The year's performance to date (YTD) for the KSE100 index shows an increase of 1.43%, while the KSE30 index has decreased by 0.92% over the same period. The FY25 performance shows a more robust growth, with the KSE100 and KSE30 indices up by 48.86% and 41.80% respectively.

In the regional context, the Karachi Stock Exchange's performance aligns with general trends observed in other Asian markets. India's BSE Sensex rose by 2.1%, while South Korea's KOSPI and Taiwan's TWII saw increases of 0.9% and 1.8% respectively.
