Karachi: In an effort to support both its members and the general public, the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) collaborated with Dr. Essa Laboratory and Diagnostic Centre, Al-Mustafa Welfare Trust, Khadim-e-Insaniyat, and the Pakistan Eye Bank Society to host a Free Medical Camp at its premises. The event attracted a diverse group of attendees, highlighting its broad community impact.
According to a statement by Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the camp provided a variety of essential healthcare services. These included tests for blood sugar, cholesterol, bone mineral density, and complete blood count (CBC), along with consultations from qualified general physicians and dermatologists.
President KCCI Muhammad Jawed Bilwani, along with other key figures such as Senior Vice President Zia ul Arfeen and Vice President Faisal Khalil Ahmed, attended the camp. Chairman of the Education and Welfare Subcommittee Farhan Ashrafi and members of the KCCI Managing Committee were also present.
Bilwani praised the partnership with Dr. Essa Laboratory, Al-Mustafa Welfare Trust, Khadim-e-Insaniyat, and the Pakistan Eye Bank Society, emphasizing KCCI's dedication to addressing issues faced by both the business community and the citizens of Karachi.
"The KCCI remains committed to humanitarian welfare while supporting the business environment," Bilwani stated. He pointed out the ongoing challenges in Pakistan's healthcare system, particularly the strain caused by the growing population.
Bilwani highlighted the issue of inadequate healthcare funding and called for reduced costs of essential medical tests. He urged increased investment in state-owned hospitals, which are currently under-resourced.
"It is vital to make basic health check-ups accessible for all. Government must focus on enhancing public healthcare funding and improving conditions in state hospitals," Bilwani stressed.
He commended Dr. Essa Laboratories, Al-Mustafa Welfare Trust, Khadim-e-Insaniyat, and the Pakistan Eye Bank Society for their leadership in healthcare. "Their dedication to service, affordability, and humanitarian care is exemplary," he concluded.
