Islamabad: The KSE 100 index showed notable gains, rising 257.80 points to close at 149,493.06, a 0.17% increase compared to the previous day's closing of 149,235.26. The benchmark index fluctuated throughout the trading session, reaching a high of 150,465.17 and a low of 149,448.93.
The KSE 30 index also experienced a slight uptick, closing at 45,518.40, up 11.60 points (0.03%) from its previous close of 45,506.80. This index peaked at 45,890.00 and dipped to a low of 45,495.41 during the day's trading.
Despite the indices' positive performance, overall market activity witnessed a significant downturn. Regular market turnover plummeted to 802,006,843 shares from 1,062,993,695 shares the previous day. The traded value in the regular market also dropped sharply to 40,450,655,136 from 55,824,223,511. Market capitalization saw a marginal increase, reaching 17,735,742,213,829 compared to 17,721,945,474,229 the day before.
Futures trading experienced a similar decline, with turnover decreasing to 141,923,500 shares from 198,750,500 shares. The traded value in the futures market also fell to 9,228,833,740 from 12,323,295,575. Off-market deliveries (ODL) also saw reduced activity.
