Karachi: The Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) witnessed a decline in its indices on September 1, 2026, as both the KSE30 and KSE100 indexes closed lower than their previous positions. The KSE30 saw a drop of 70.29 points, closing at 52,632.43, while the KSE100 fell by 508.69 points to settle at 176,466.99. The market experienced reduced trading turnover, impacting overall market capitalization.
According to Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited, the turnover for regular market shares decreased from 937,269,869 to 784,465,994, with a corresponding drop in traded value from 39,134,315,713 to 37,410,245,919. The market capitalization also declined, from 19,830,162,108,263 to 19,781,733,106,589. The decline in indices was accompanied by a lower trading range, with the KSE30 index hitting a high of 52,971.92 and a low of 52,607.00, while the KSE100 recorded a high of 177,800.28 and a low of 176,375.01.
In the derivatives market, the Daily Futures Contracts (DFC) turnover increased to 254,050,000 from 238,374,000, with a traded value rising to 13,966,868,455 from 11,702,146,425. However, there were no changes reported in the Cash Settled Futures (CSF) market. The decline in indices and overall market activity reflects a cautious sentiment among investors.
