Karachi: The Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) indices experienced moderate gains on August 21, 2026, with both the KSE30 and KSE100 indices closing higher compared to the previous trading day. The KSE30 index rose by 203.40 points to close at 52,670.80, while the KSE100 index increased by 574.76 points, finishing at 177,166.52.
According to Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited, the market saw an uptick in overall trading activity. The turnover for regular market transactions reached 689,166,155, surpassing the previous figure of 665,194,180. Additionally, the traded value in the regular market climbed to 35,657,248,860 from 30,791,830,726. Market capitalization also saw a rise, with current figures standing at 19,882,969,166,870 compared to the previous 19,787,073,305,141.
The daily report highlighted that the indices' fluctuations were within a relatively stable range, with the KSE30 hitting a high of 52,764.56 and a low of 52,283.34. Similarly, the KSE100 recorded a high of 177,583.36 and a low of 176,110.76 during the trading session. The data reflect a percentage change of 0.39 for the KSE30 and 0.33 for the KSE100.
The increase in market activity was also evident in the derivatives and futures contracts. The double futures contract (DFC) turnover rose to 222,388,500 from the previous 146,303,500, with the traded value reaching 10,832,324,505, up from 8,307,922,815. However, the over-the-counter derivatives (ODL) experienced a slight decline in turnover, with current figures at 1,345 compared to the previous 1,431.
Overall, the market's positive performance indicates a continuing investor interest, as reflected by the increased trading volumes and values across various segments.
