KSE100 Index Falls as Market Experiences Decline

Karachi: The KSE100 index saw a significant decline, dropping by 1,116.80 points, or 0.63%, closing at 177,083.22. The KSE30 also experienced a dip, falling by 377.39 points, or 0.71%, to settle at 52,836.31. The market capitalization of the Pakistan Stock Exchange also fell by 0.61%, reaching Rs 19,833.03 billion.

According to JS Global, the session recorded a total trading volume of 711.27 million shares, amounting to a value of Rs 25.87 billion, or US$93.15 million. The top gainers for the session included KAPCO, which saw its price rise by 5.09% to Rs 29.11, and POWER, which increased by 4.47% to Rs 21.74. Among the losers, MEHT experienced the most significant drop, with a decrease of 10% to Rs 169.98, followed by TPLRF1, which fell by 3.23% to Rs 10.18.

The regional markets showed mixed performance, with Korea's KOSPI index rising by 1.6% and Indonesia's JKSE increasing by 1.4%. Meanwhile, India’s BSESN and the Philippines' PSI both saw declines of 0.3% and 0.6%, respectively. Despite the current downturn, the year-to-date performance of the KSE100 index shows a 1.74% increase in the calendar year.
