LCCI establishes Flood Relief Fund

Lahore, August 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry has established “Flood Relief Fund” with an initial amount of Rs. 10 million for the flood affectees. The LCCI President Mian Nauman Kabir said that the aim of establishing the “Flood Relief Fund” is to extend help to the victims who are in a dire need of rescue. He said that around 1000 people and uncountable number of cattle have lost their lives while the millions are sitting helpless under the open sky.

He appealed to the members of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry to show generosity towards their catastrophe-hit brothers and sisters who are sitting under the open sky without necessities of life. Mian Nauman Kabir said that the business community has to perform an extraordinary role as the situation has become too grave to be handled by the government and other departments alone.

He said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry will continue to fulfill its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in a winsome manner as it has the understanding that the government alone cannot cope with the mass devastation caused by the floods. LCCI Senior Vice President Mian Rehman Aziz Chan and Vice President Haris Ateeq said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry has played a vital role at all testing times and credit goes to the LCCI members who gave maximum for the help of their deprived brothers and sisters.

Mian Nauman Kabir said that matchless cooperation of the LCCI members has always given a new strength and encouragement to the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He said that in past, the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry has given donations of million rupees for earthquake and flood victims and also constructed 150 houses in Leyyah for the flood-hit people. He said the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry will arrange food supplies, clothing, medicines and tents from the funds to be given by the members and truck loads of these supplies will be dispatched to all parts of the affected areas.

The LCCI President said that the calamity caused by the floods is extremely severe. “Government alone cannot cope with the situation” he said adding that the whole nation, particularly those with better resources, will have to rise to the occasion and play their role in reducing the stress of flood victims. The LCCI President, however, urged the government to take measures on war-footing to restore infrastructure in the flood affected.
