New Railway from Thar to Port Qasim to Boost Pakistan’s Coal Transport

Islamabad, The Pakistan Government has announced plans to commence construction on a new 105-kilometer railway line from Thar to Port Qasim. This strategic infrastructure project is designed to improve the transportation of coal from Thar's coal fields to power plants throughout the country, thereby enhancing the nation's energy mix.

According to Zameen.Com, the railway project will be a collaborative effort, jointly funded by the Federal and Sindh governments and managed by Federal authorities. The initiative underscores a significant step toward increasing the use of coal-based energy in Pakistan, aligning with broader energy security and economic development goals.
