Pakistan and Belarus Aim to Boost Economic Ties with High-Level Visit

Karachi: Economic relations between Pakistan and Belarus are poised for significant enhancement as President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus embarks on a visit to Pakistan. This development is expected to initiate a new era in trade, joint ventures, and investments between the two nations.

According to United Business Group, President Zubair Tufail, along with Chairman Khalid Tawab, Secretary General Hanif Gohar, and other committee members, emphasized the significance of the visit. They noted that the presence of a 68-member delegation accompanying President Lukashenko is a strategic step towards elevating bilateral trade, currently valued at approximately $50 million, a figure they consider below potential.

The leaders highlighted the necessity of establishing direct flights and road transport links to facilitate stronger business connections. They identified key sectors such as football manufacturing, bedding, sports equipment, rubber, plastics, metal products, surgical instruments, and artificial jewelry as areas ripe for collaboration. This move aligns with existing frameworks like the Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation and the Belarus-Pakistan Trade Council, which aim to bolster economic cooperation between the two countries.
