Pakistan Prepares for 42nd International Handmade Carpet Exhibition in Lahore

LAHORE: Pakistan's handmade carpet industry is preparing for a significant international event, as the 42nd International Exhibition of Handmade Carpets is scheduled to take place in Lahore from October 6 to 8, 2026. Organizers anticipate record international participation and hope the event will lead to significant export deals and new business opportunities for the country's carpet manufacturers and exporters.

According to Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association, the three-day exhibition is organized by the Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMEA) and is expected to deliver results in terms of scale, international participation, and commercial prospects. Over 70 leading manufacturers and exporters from across Pakistan will showcase a variety of handmade carpets, rugs, and other floor-covering products, with expectations that the event will generate substantial export agreements.

Ejaz Rehman, Chairperson of the Carpet Training Institute (CTI), described the exhibition as a landmark event celebrating Pakistan's legacy in handmade carpet production, craftsmanship, distinctive designs, and international trade partnerships. He stated that the exhibition would be a significant milestone for both Pakistan and the global handmade carpet industry.

The exhibition will offer overseas buyers an opportunity to explore the latest collections and trends in Pakistan's handmade carpet sector. It will also allow foreign importers to engage directly with Pakistani artisans, manufacturers, and exporters, gaining insight into the quality and craftsmanship that have earned international recognition.

Rehman noted the exhibition is regarded as one of the world's leading trade events dedicated to handmade carpets, attracting buyers from numerous countries. He expressed confidence that the event would strengthen business linkages between international buyers and Pakistani exporters, paving the way for increased exports and new commercial partnerships.

To encourage international participation, selected overseas buyers will be offered a hospitality package for their visit to Pakistan. Rehman expects this initiative to enhance buyer confidence and facilitate stronger business engagement.

He emphasized the exhibition's role in reinforcing Pakistan's global reputation in the handmade carpet industry, expanding exports, accessing new international markets, and contributing to the sustainable growth of the country's carpet manufacturing sector.
