Pakistan Stock Exchange Sees Decline as KSE100 and KSE30 Indices Drop

Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a downturn as the KSE100 and KSE30 indices both experienced declines on Monday. The KSE100 index fell by 1,580.90 points, closing at 176,042.98, marking a 0.89% decrease. Meanwhile, the KSE30 index dropped by 497.58 points, settling at 52,633.98, a decline of 0.94%.

According to JS Global, the day's highlights showed a varied performance among individual stocks. Among the gainers, Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC) saw an increase of 2.01%, closing at 558.73, while Ghani Glass Limited (GHGL) rose by 1.15%, reaching 39.52. Indus Motor Company (INDU) also made gains, climbing 1.13% to 1,938.02. However, some stocks faced losses, with Kohat Cement Company Limited (KOHC) and Power Cement Limited (POWER) decreasing by 3.44% and 2.99%, respectively.

The PSX's market capitalization declined by 0.86%, with the total value standing at Rs 19,778.15 billion, equivalent to approximately $71.19 billion. The exchange recorded a total trading volume of 574.08 million shares, with a transaction value of Rs 25.37 billion, or $91.32 million. Meanwhile, the year-to-date change for the KSE100 index in the fiscal year 2027 stands at -2.36%.

In the regional context, markets showed mixed performances. The Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSEA) in China dropped by 1.4%, while India's Bombay Stock Exchange (BSESN) increased by 0.6%. Other regional markets, including Indonesia's Jakarta Stock Exchange (JKSE) and Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE), also experienced slight declines.
