Pakistan Stock Market Witnesses Profit-Taking, KSE100 Index Drops 266 Points

Karachi, The Pakistan Stock Exchange experienced a notable downturn in today's trading session, with the KSE100 index shedding 266 points to close at 65,152. The decline was primarily due to profit-taking activities, report by JS Global Capital Limited. The trading volume for the day was recorded at 208 million shares, highlighting significant market movement.

According to JS Global, the most active stocks of the day included PAKRI, which saw an 8.3% increase, whereas PIAA, PTC, and WTL faced declines of 7.5%, 7.5%, and 1.5%, respectively. AGL stock, on the other hand, rose by 7.5%. The report further anticipates a range-bound market activity in the near future and suggests that any dips in the market could present buying opportunities, particularly in the Banking and Fertilizer sectors.

The KSE30 and KSE100 indices both showed negative movement, with day-on-day changes of -0.40% and -0.41%, respectively. The year-to-date changes for the CY24 show positive growth, with the KSE100 index up by 4.32%. The market capitalization of the PSX also saw a decrease of 0.60% from the previous day, settling at 9,170.94 billion PKR (33.01 billion USD).

Among the gainers in today's session were NBP, PSEL, RMPL, GATM, and PKGP, with NBP leading with a 7.49% increase. On the downside, PTC, NESTLE, EFUG, FFBL, and AICL were the top losers, with PTC experiencing the highest drop of 7.51%.

The regional markets showed mixed results, with China's SSEA down by 0.9%, while India's BSESN saw an increase of 0.4%. The performance of markets in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Taiwan reflected slight gains, whereas the Philippines experienced a 1.2% decrease.
