Karachi: Mr. Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, the Acting President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), announced that Pakistan's business, industry, and trade community firmly supports the state and its armed forces amid escalating tensions with India. The statement came in response to India's threats regarding the Indus Water Treaty and its ongoing propaganda against Pakistan.
The declaration of unity was made during a press conference at the FPCCI Head Office, marking a significant show of collective support to the armed forces during this period of heightened border tensions.
Mr. Magoon criticized India for its repeated accusations following incidents in Indian-occupied Kashmir, labeling them as failures of India's own security apparatus. He noted that despite the absence of trade between the two countries, previous trade relations favored India, which ceased when India halted trade with Pakistan.
Mr. Abdul Mohamin Khan, FPCCI's Regional Chairman and Vice President, emphasized the business community's commitment to backing the armed forces. He stated that while peace remains the priority, they are prepared to defend the nation if necessary.
Veteran business leader Mr. Bashir Janmohammad urged the cessation of all trade with India until issues are resolved with mutual respect.
Mr. Aman Paracha, FPCCI Vice President, accused India of hindering regional trade opportunities and emphasized the need for cooperation for the collective good of the Indian subcontinent.
Mr. Asif Sakhi underscored the importance of prioritizing Pakistan above all in times of challenge, while Mr. Nasir Khan criticized India for its internal security inadequacies, asserting that Pakistan bears no responsibility for the recent incidents.
These statements reflect a unified stance from Pakistan's business leaders amid ongoing regional tensions, highlighting support for national interests and defense.
