Karachi: Pakistan's remittance inflows have shown significant growth, with overseas Pakistanis sending US$23.2 billion in the first seven months of the fiscal year 2026, reflecting an 11% year-on-year increase. The January 2026 monthly inflow was recorded at US$3.5 billion, representing a 15% rise compared to the same month last year.
According to JS Global, remittances from the UAE have seen a resurgence in recent months, with their share rising to 20% in January 2026 from a previous low of 17% in the first half of fiscal year 2024. Combined inflows from Saudi Arabia and the UAE accounted for 41% of the total remittances in January 2026, despite a slight decrease in remittances from Saudi Arabia during the month.
Remittances have been crucial in stabilizing Pakistan's external account, consistently helping to offset the country's trade deficit. Their role has grown in importance as Pakistan faces renewed external economic pressures.
