Lahore: The Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) has called for the establishment of a "Digital Silk Road" to maximize the benefits of the economic corridor that China plans to construct in the Asia-Pacific region. Nazir Hussain, President of PCJCCI, highlighted this proposal during a recent think tank session held at the PCJCCI Secretariat.
According to Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hussain emphasized the importance of developing an Asia-Pacific Information Superhighway to enhance regional connectivity. While infrastructure development for the Belt and Road Initiative progresses, Hussain noted the necessity of overcoming informational barriers between connecting nations to facilitate international cooperation.
Brig Mansoor Saeed Sheikh (Retd), Senior Vice President of PCJCCI, underscored the need for people-to-people bonds to support strategic initiatives. He advocated for cultural and academic exchanges, as well as cooperation among media, youth, and volunteers to foster bilateral and multilateral harmony.
Zafar Iqbal, Vice President of PCJCCI, suggested creating a comprehensive agenda to establish effective communication among the states linked by the Pak-China economic belt and the Silk Road. This agenda should prioritize friendly exchanges between legislative bodies and political parties of the involved nations.
